Live Commentary From British F1GP Silverstone

FINISH: That's it from Silverstone - perhaps for the final time. Please join us again in three weeks for the German GP
SKYBET: "1/4 Jenson for the title, with Vettel into 11/4 from 7/1 as he looks to have a chance to reel back in the Brawn's now!"
FINISH: Well done Red Bull, who have clearly shown Brawn they are the ones to watch out for
FINISH: Trulli and Raikkonen complete the points
FINISH: Massa holds on to fourth place - his best result of the season, while Rosberg is sixth ahead of Button
FINISH: Mark Webber takes second place ahead of Rubens Barrichello as Brawn once again show their faces on the podium
FINISH: Sebastian Vettel wins at Silverstone! Only the second man, the other being Button, to have won a race this season
Lap 60: Vettel comes to complete the final corner as the crowd cheers him on
Lap 60: Final lap for Vettel and it's his race as he holds a 17s lead over Webber at the start of it. Webber in turn is 26s ahead of Barrichello, who is 4.1s ahead of the battle for fourth
Lap 59: Rosberg in turn is catching Massa. Final lap fight for fourth place? Button, though, has a big slide through the middle of Becketts
Lap 58: Right behind Rosberg now, Button's final stint is remarkably different to his middle stint
Lap 57: Meanwhile Raikkonen has managed to pull away slightly from Glock but with two full laps still to go there is time for the Toyota driver to fight
Lap 56: But the turbulent air is causing Button problems as he tries to get close enough to pass
Lap 55: Just over a second behind Rosberg, the British crowd goes crazy as they watch Button prepare for the fight
Lap 54: Button has closed up to within 2.5s of Rosberg while Massa is a further 1.7s ahead
Lap 53: Glock is just 0.5s behind Raikkonen
Lap 52: Glock is fighting Raikkonen for the last points-paying position as the Ferrari driver is struggling for grip on the harder option tyres
Lap 51: Button is currently the fastest man in the top eight but he's 4.1s behind the man in front of him, Rosberg
Lap 50: Vettel is on track for his second win of the season as he holds a 19.4s lead over his team-mate
Lap 49: Button pits from third place. Not a great afternoon for the Brit, who comes out in sixth place
Lap 48: Race leader Webber pits and hands the lead back to Vettel. Barrichello follows Webber in. Will he come out ahead or behind Massa? He comes out ahead of Massa
Lap 47: Trulli comes in. He was P4
Lap 46: Fisichella pits from seventh place
Lap 46: Massa pits from fourth. Can he jump Rosberg? He stops for 7.5s and comes out just ahead of Rosberg. Great work from Ferrari once again
Lap 45: Vettel pits from the lead, puts on the hard tyres and stops for 8.2s. He comes out in second place
Lap 44: Rosberg pits from fourth, this is a great time for Massa to put his foot down and try leapfrog the Williams man. Meanwhile, Button is complaining how "annoying" it is that his car isn't doing what he wants. Hamilton is off the track, taking the scenic route
Lap 43: Raikkonen pits from seventh place. The Ferrari driver stops for 7.5s and comes out in 10th place with clear air all around
Lap 42: Raikkonen has closed right up on Trulli but can he pass the Toyota driver?
Lap 41: Nakajima pits from ninth place. Disappointing from the Williams man who was running as high as fourth in the early stint of the race
Lap 40: Bourdais retires
Lap 39: Alonso pits and Bourdais pits
Lap 38: Kovalainen pulls into the pits and calls it quit, due to damage sustained from his accident with Bourdais
Lap 37: Massa is still fifth, although Ferrari reckons fourth is within reach
Lap 36: Vettel still leads ahead of Webber and Barrichello
Lap 35: Both pit for repairs and resume racing
Lap 35: Bourdais's car is badly damaged. Kovalainen, perhaps thinking he was letting a Red Bull through, realised it was actually a Toro Rosso and quickly cut across the track in front of him. Bourdais's nose is destroyed and Kovalainen has a left rear puncture
Lap 34: Kovalainen pits and comes out right in front of Hamilton
Lap 33: Near the front Rosberg is catching Barrichello. Just 0.7s between the two
SKYBET: "1/16 Vettel now after the first stops, with Webber at 16/1 and Barrichello out to 33/1. We are already starting to have a think about this will afftect the Championship prices, with a huge advantage to Red Bull in the Constructors' battle!"
Lap 32: Vettel's lead is now down to 17.6s but this has more to do with the German backing off than Webber pushing on
Lap 31: Alonso has passed Hamilton as the F1 Champs have it out in style. Unfortunately they are fighting over 16th place
Lap 30: Hamilton and Alonso fighting for position. Hamilton pushes his former team-mate wide and takes the position before closing in on Piquet to do the same. Alonso, though, fights back
Lap 29: Vettel, having been told to back off, leads by just 20s now
Lap 28: Bourdais pits from 14th place. The Toro Rossos are really finding themselves on the other side of the order to their sister Red Bull team. Kubica also pits
Lap 27: Vettel is told to preserve his tyres while Webber has been quicker than his German team-mate for the last three laps
Lap 26: Fisichella is up to tenth place after the first stint of the race. Great start for the Force India driver
Lap 25: Webber, in second place, is already 4.2s ahead of Barrichello
Lap 24: Button is told he's carrying more fuel than Raikkonen by a few laps and he tells his mechanics he's understeering through the high speed corners
Lap 23: Alonso and Hamilton both jumped Heidfeld in that first round of stops. That will be a relief for both, however, their races are already pretty much over
Lap 22: Massa pits from second place. He stops for 8.2s, fastest stop so far. He comes out in fifth place. Great stop from Ferrari
Lap 21: Heidfeld pits while Massa, touring in second place, should be getting ready for his stop in the next lap or three
Lap 20: Vettel pits from the lead. 9.6s for the German who comes out first place. Brilliant from Vettel. Fisichella pits
Lap 20: Webber comes in from second place. Interesting to see if he can jump Barrichello in this stop. The Australia comes out just ahead of Barrichello but Rubens is flying. He's right behind Webber and tries to pass but the Red Bull driver holds him off
Lap 19: Barrichello pits from second place. He stops for 9.7s and comes out fifth. Glock also pits
Lap 18: Rosberg, Trulli and Button all pit from the top eight. Trulli manages to get out ahead of Raikkonen (great stop from Toyota) while Button is right behind the Finn
Lap 17: Raikkonen was able to leapfrog Nakajima in that first round of stops, so that's some progress up the order for the Finn
Lap 16: Vettel does a 1:20.735 as Raikkonen pits from fourth place. The Finn stops for 9.1s and he comes out in 10th place
Lap 15: Williams mechanics are out and it's Nakajima who pulls into the pits. He was P4 and comes out in 11th place
Lap 14: Alonso almost tags Heidfeld as he desperately looks for a way past
Lap 13: Vettel is again flying and sets a new fastest lap time, a 1:20.821 as his lead grows to 14.4s
Lap 12: Webber is still stuck in third place, roughly 0.7s behind Barrichello and lapping over a second slower than his race-leading team-mate
Lap 11: With Alonso unable to pass Heidfeld and Hamilton stuck behind Kubica there is absolutely NO passing going on in the opening stage of this race
Lap 10: Just outside the points are Massa, Glock and Force India's Giancarlo Fisichella
Lap 9: Another new fastest lap from Vettel, who has the gap to Barrichello up to 9.6s
Lap 8: Bourdais, Buemi, Kovalainen and Sutil are the last four runners in the pace
Lap 7: Despite his damaged wing, Heidfeld is still managing to keep Alonso at bay while his team-mate Kubica is fighting off Hamilton
SKYBET: "What a start from Vettel - a second a lap quicker now, and hes just 1/5 with Skybet to win the race now! Jenson Button has gone backwards, and he's now out to 20/1 - the biggest price he's been to win any race this season!"
Lap 6: Up front Vettel has just set another fastest lap and is 6.1s up on Barrichello
Lap 5: Button has closed in on the back of Trulli and is looking for a way past
Lap 4: Nick Heidfeld, who is P12, is called in by his BMW mechanics to get a new front wing, which looks to have taken a knock on the opening lap. Heidfeld, though, isn't keen on coming in and tells his team he won't come in. He is two seconds off the pace and holding up Alonso
Lap 3: Vettel pulls out another second over Barrichello. The German, who has already won two grands prix, is determined to prove today that he can win in the dry. His previous wins were all on wet tracks
Lap 2: Fighting with Alonso, Hamilton ran a bit wide and Kubica took 14th place off the McLaren man
Lap 2: Massa runs wide at the exit of Stowe and Button moves up to eighth
Lap 2: Vettel, despite carrying more fuel, already has a 2.5s lead over Barrichello, who is being hounded by Webber
Lap 1: Hamilton is up to 15th on the opening lap having started P19. In contrast his team-mate Kovalainen is down to 19th
Lap 1: Button has dropped to ninth place after a sluggish start while Massa is ahead of him in eighth
Lap 1: Great start from Vettel, who leads the way ahead of Barrichello, Webber, Nakajima and the flying Raikkonen
START: And it's go at Silverstone!
13H03: The grid reforms and we are ready for the start
13H01: The drivers all get away safely while Sutil waits in the pit lane
13H00: Formation lap is underway
12H57: The grid is being cleared as we wait for the formation lap
12H52: Button is chatting with his team on the grid while Ferrari, McLaren and Renault's bosses are deep in conversation
12H49: The celebs are out and about today. Crickets Kevin Peterson, football's Michael Ballack, Eric Cantona, Bernie's daughters Tamara and Petra, the Harry Potter cast, Jade Jagger, rock band Kasabian, cyclist Sir Chris Hoy and Victoria Pendleton
SKYBET: "Sebastian Vettel's qualifying lap yesterday was nothing short of sensational, and up at Skybet we've reacted by installed him as our 4/6 favourite to win this afternoon. Jenson Button has been heavily supported at 5/1, but its not going to be easy for him to win from 6th on the grid. The big question Skybet are asking is whether the Red Bull can work its tyres soft enough over a long stint to show the same pace as we saw yesterday. If not, Barrichello could spoil the day - hes a 4/1 shot for victory.
"If Jenson does win today, it will probably become our worst ever motor racing result"
12H45: Pit lane is closed
12H36: The drivers are heading on to the grid, Hamilton tries a practice start while Sutil has ground to a halt on his reconnaissance lap
12H30: The pit lane is open
12H26: The best-placed Ferrari on the grid is Kimi Raikkonen in ninth place while his team-mate Felipe Massa is P11. As for McLaren, Heikki Kovalainen qualified 13th while Lewis Hamilton is 19th after Adrian Sutil's heavy crash cost him a final chance of improving his grid slot
12H20: Jarno Trulli and Kazuki Nakajima are next in line, followed by Button, while Nico Rosberg and Timo Glock complete the top eight on the grid
12H16: Rubens Barrichello is starting alongside with Mark Webber behind him. Webber, though, reckons he was robbed of pole position by Kimi Raikkonen, who must have been "drinking some vodka or dreaming or something" when Webber came across him at Stowe corner
12H15: The man in pole position to start the race - and probably for the win - is Sebastian Vettel. The Red Bull driver put in a massive effort in qualifying despite being the heaviest of the top ten drivers
12H12: The Brawn GP driver, who is leading the Drivers' standings, is starting sixth on the grid, his worst starting position of the season. And Button has already said that winning today will be "almost impossible"
12H09: A huge crowd is expected at Silverstone today, 125,000 fans, most eager to see a British win. But can Jenson Button pull it off?
12H04: Today's grand prix takes place over 60 laps and no rain is expected as the sun is out and the clouds above are white and fluffy
12H00: Welcome to coverage of the 2009 British Grand Prix - Silverstone's last hurrah in Formula One
